Meetings of the Philadelphia Area Chapter of the National Stuttering Association, which were normally held at the Bala Cynwyd Library, in Bala Cynwyd, PA, are now moved to a temporary location while the library is closed for renovation.
During February and March 2012,
Philly
Chapter meetings
will be held at Temple Adath
Israel, 250 Highland Avenue
North, Merion Station, PA,
located at the SE corner of Old Lancaster Road and Highland Avenue (directly
across the street from the Bala Cynwyd Library), Bala Cynwyd, PA. This
is
about 1/4 mile west of City Line Avenue (U.S.
Route 1) and 54th Street, Philadelphia.
We will meet in the Saligman
School Building, Sklaroff Media Center, on the second floor.
DIRECTIONS TO THE TEMPORARY MEETING ROOM, FROM THE BALA CYNWYD LIBRARY: Go to the
Bala Cynwyd Library at the corner of Old Lancaster Road and Highland Avenue,
in Bala Cynwyd, PA. The driveway entrance to Temple Adath Israel is on the
opposite side of Old Lancaster Road, a short distance east of the library
(toward City Ave.). Drive up the driveway, through the large parking lot,
and continue to bear right, all around the back of the building, to the
parking lot on other side, adjacent to Highland Avenue. The
Saligman School Building will be on your right. Go through the entry
doors. Go a short distance down the hall to an "Exit" sign. Turn right and
go through the double doors to the stairway. Go to the second floor and
turn left. The meeting room is the last door on the left, labeled "Sklaroff
Media Center." Once inside the room, you will find the meeting area to your
right. Here's a map to the Bala Cynwyd Library at the corner of Old Lancaster Road and Highland Avenue, 1/4 mile west of City Line Avenue. Temple Adath Israel is on the southeast corner of the same intersection, directly across Old Lancaster Road from the library.
From South
Jersey take the Walt Whitman Bridge
into PA, which will
become
the Schuylkill Expressway (I-76). Take I-76 West to the
City
(Line) Avenue (US Route 1) Exit--South.
From the Schuylkill Expressway (I-76), go south on City (Line) Avenue US Route 1, until you reach an intersection that appears to mark the northern edge of the St. Joseph's University Campus. You will see a large gothic architecture, academic-type building set back off on the left at this intersection. You want to turn RIGHT onto Old Lancaster Road, and go 1/4 mile west to just BEFORE the first traffic light. The traffic light is at the intersection of Old Lancaster Road and Highland Avenue. If you go to the intersection, you've gone too far. The Bala Cynwyd Library is set back on the right side of Old Lancaster Road, just before the intersection. You will see the driveway into the parking lot. We meet in the second floor meeting room. Take the elevator or the stairs to the second floor and walk through the children's library to the back area where the meeting room is. Ask a librarian if you get lost.
If you are coming up City
Line Avenue from the SOUTH,
go
through the
St.
Joe's University Campus until you reach an intersection that marks
the northern
edge of the campus, beyond which commercial buildings begin
to
appear on BOTH sides of City Line Avenue. At that intersection, which
is
54th
Street on the Philadelphia (east) side and Old Lancaster Road on
the Lower
Merion Township (west) side, turn LEFT onto Old Lancaster
Road
and follow the directions as indicated
above.
From the airport or
Delaware,
take I-95 or 291 East until you see signs
for
I-76 West. You want to go over the Pratt Bridge (291) down to
the intersection
with 26th Street. The big car crusher area is on the
right.
You
should see signs for I-76 West at this intersection, and you
should turn
LEFT onto 26th Street, which will go by the big refinery tanks
and feed
you right onto the Schuylkill Expressway (I-76). Follow the directions
above (from South Jersey) the rest of the way.
Folks from
Delaware can also take I-95 north
into PA and get onto the
Blue
Route (I-476), and go north to Exit 5. At Exit 5, go NORTH
(RIGHT) onto
US Route 1 (toward Springfield), and take US Route 1 North all
the
way
into Philadelphia, and follow the directions above at...(If you
are coming
up City Line Avenue from the SOUTH.)

bridges

South Jersey, with the library location
